Recreation Services: Check out one of the six fitness centers on campus, open to students, faculty and staff. To help you kickstart your Monday, we offer free fresh fruit every Monday at Archbold, Ernie Davis fitness facility and Marshall Square Mall fitness center. Also check out the free Move-it Monday and Fit-Friday fitness classes. There is a 50 minute class held every Monday at 5:15pm and Friday at 12:10pm in the Flanagan Fitness Studio. New for the fall 2013 semester is a Zumba class for staff and faculty from 12:30-1:00pm on Wednesdays in the Flanagan Fitness Studio. No registration is required but come early as classes fill up. Classes are open to anyone with a valid SU ID. Classes for the fall semester will begin on Monday, September 9th. See the Events & News page for a schedule of classes.
Pressed for time? Walk the campus Monday Mile! The route starts in front of Schine Student Center and is a great way to get in a quick workout.
Food Services: Syracuse University Food Services offers a wide range of healthy food options making it easy for you to eat healthy on campus. Every Monday in all the dining centers and cafes across campus you can find Meatless Monday specials. Interested in today's dining center options? Hendricks Chapel: Destress every Monday with a meditation at noon in the small chapel, located on the lower level of Hendricks. Meditation has been shown to lower stress levels, improve mood and overall mental well-being. While you are there, stop by People's Place cafe on Monday for free fruit.
Division of Student Affairs, Health & Wellness Promotions: The Health & Wellness Division supports students in leading healthier lives at Syracuse University and into their future years. They promote health and educate students about healthy behaviors and lifestyles so they can make informed choices and learn to cope with the stressors of college life.
Health Services: Health Services provides student-centered ambulatory care services. Through Quit & Stay Quit Monday, resources are available at Health Services to help you become tobacco-free. Health Services can help you make a plan to quit smoking, assist with decisions about using medications that suit you best, and provide ongoing support through the quit process. Call 443-9005 to make an appointment.
We also provide free fresh fruit every Monday morning at Health Services.
University Wellness Initiative: This broad, campus-wide initiative links SU employees and their families to health and wellness resources on campus by coordinating with the Division of Student Affairs and other institutional units to promote wellness across campus.
Student Leadership Institute: An initiative housed within the Office of Student Activities, the Student Leadership Institute (SLI) is a year-long leadership experience designed for rising sophomores and juniors at Syracuse University who exemplify the Institute's core values- commitment, community and change. Members of the SLI participate in leadership and professional development opportunities and have the opportunity to earn a certificate in Health, Health Policy and Wellness and develop a Healthy Monday campaign.
SU Abroad Florence: Bringing the Healthy Monday program to Syracuse University Florence provides an opportunity for students studying abroad to incorporate physical activity into their lives and get health tips that apply to the new culture which they are experiencing. Students studying abroad in Florence can enjoy fresh free fruit on Mondays, attend a Move-it Monday fitness class and sign-up to receive weekly health tips.
